A man named TOWNSEND was shot and stabbed while walking from his store to his residence. JESSE HUGHES, a good Democrat,was beaten,cut,and shot so badly, at the corner of Jefferson and Jackson, He died shortly afterwards. (Many incidents, but only these two men were named.)
