Hughes in Fairfield District, SC

It seems no one who came by has information on Hughesville. Thanks for stopping by.

Today I thought I might try to determine if anyone has information on George D. Hughes, Fairfield District SC. He may have been in Union Co. AR in 1850. I cannot give documentation on this, however.

While searching I did find a website that I have not visited before. At
Descendants of William Arledge of Kershaw and Fairfield Co., SC,

you may read about James H. Hughes, (J.H. Hughes) Eliza and Lydia Hughes. I am having to bookmark it to read later with school beginning this week.

My father Donald James Hughes was a nuclear physicisr-died when I was about 3 y old-I have tried to do some research on him but not much on his lineage. He was born in 1915 in Chicago, his mother Anna (not sure the maiden name)was of Swedish origin and William his father of Scoth-Irish origin.Donald worked on the Manhatten Project, not happy with the administrative work and ended up in Brookhaven Lab in Long Island, NY
He wrote various bllks and lectured in different countries. He died in 1960 and had a library dedicated to him at Brookhaven labs. I would love more info on his family. My mother, Valerie Turner married him in 1957,she died in 2004. Her memory had deteriated due to strokes for about 7-10 yrs prior to that. I would love any information you could share or I can. I am not sure of sisters or brothers. My mother did not like to talk about himd/t some unresolved angry feelings of having such a short life with him.
