Having been away for so long, I would like to thank all of you who continue to stop by and to write to me.
I want to share with you some interesting news that I received this month from a correspondent. It seems that a Hughes from Missouri has taken the DNA profile test and it came back that his profile matches Rufus Hughes profile from Laurens, SC. I do not know the background of this Rufus, however, I am hoping that some of you will be able to help me. There was a Rufus Hughes in Rutherford, NC. This Rufus moved on to Walton Co. GA. Also, I found where John Hughes, the oldest son of George and Rhoda's, descendants are found in and near Gwinnett Co. and Walton Co., GA. I realize that none of this proves anything, but it does strengthen our case for the Hughes family from Rutherford being the same as the Hughes family from Laurens. In my mine, there is no doubt. These two families are closely related. The mystery is whether George and William were brothers or cousins.
I intend to resume posting. Some old pictures that I have not been able to post will be posted beginning tomorrow and some up-to-date pictures made at Mt. Tabor cemetery in Morgan Co. Please stop by to see them.
